Ashley is Chairman of the Board and Managing Director at DB Wood. He has over 25 years’ experience in the wealth management industry, qualifying as a Financial Advisor in 1994. Ashley is highly involved in our business strategy, holding key roles as one of our lead Financial Planners as well as Chairman of our Investment Committee.
Interests: Ashley is a keen squash player, competing in the Nottingham Squash Leagues.
Tracey joined us in January 2015. As a Certified Financial Planner™, she has over 15 years of industry experience, working with leading financial planning firms in various consulting and board positions. Tracey has a variety of responsibilities that include overseeing management information and the company’s compliance function, as well as holding a key role as a Financial Planner.
Interests: Tracey can usually be found at the gym partaking in high intensity workouts, or at weekends completing obstacle course races.
Prior to joining us as an Investment Analyst in 2014, Alex completed a Masters in Banking and Finance at Loughborough University, graduating with distinction. Prior to that, Alex studied Mathematics and Economics at undergraduate level. In addition to his research responsibilities, he also manages the investment process and the team’s outcomes.
Interests: From monitoring investment swings, to perfecting his own, Alex is a devoted tennis player and is also in fact a qualified coach.
Prior to joining us in 2005 Michael held roles at Aviva, Scottish Life and Scottish Widows. He holds a Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning as well as specialist qualifications in Pensions, Investment Risk Management and, Taxation and Trusts. Michael predominantly works as a Financial Planner, although he is also an important part of our Investment Committee.
Interests: Michael enjoys spending his time with his wife and two kids.
Neil holds over 25 years’ experience here with us at DB Wood. He is a qualified Financial Planner and holds further specialist qualifications in Life & Pensions, Long Term Care and Equity Release. Neil’s personal aim is to provide quality support to his clients, ensuring he delivers a service that is highly suited to their needs.
Interests: Neil is an avid football fan, and has a decent right boot himself.
Adam joined DB Wood in 1999. He has over 25 years of industry experience, qualifying as a Financial Advisor in 1996. Adam specialises in advising private individuals, specifically providing generation and wealth planning solutions to DB Wood clients.
Interests: Adam has a history of sporting participation, in particular applying himself on the Cricket field.
Oliver is part of our next generation of Financial Advisors. He joined DB Wood in 2009 following completion of a business degree at the University of Chester. He achieved his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in May 2013 and is currently working towards Chartered status.
Interests: Oliver is an avid runner, highlighted by his successful completion the Stockholm marathon in 2016.
Further to our purchase of his business in 2017, Kelvin joined our advice team as a Financial Planner. Kelvin has a wealth of experience, with over 30 years of industry experience, and has developed fantastic relationships with all his clients.
Interests: Kelvin plays lead guitar and backing vocals in “The Business”; a local Newark band.
Graham joined DB Wood in 1984 and has over 30 years of investment experience. He originally qualified as a Financial Planner in 1980, further updating his qualifications to new industry specific standards in 2013. Graham has a passion for investment management, holds an important role on our Investment Committee and brings broad experience to the team.
Interests: Outside of work, Graham is Chairman of the Newark Wine Society, and can often be found at the City Ground on a Saturday.
Dominic joined DB Wood in 2015 on our Graduate Programme. Prior to joining he graduated with a First Class Joint Honours degree in Business Finance from Nottingham Trent University. Dominic is also a Qualified (ACCA) Accountant, he works mainly within our Business Planning team but also has a role in our Investment Committee through his specific specialism in Emerging Markets.
Interests: Dom enjoys learning new sports, with recent additions including Squash and Golf.
Declan is our newest member in the Investment Committee having joined DB Wood in September 2017. Having completed our Summer Internship in 2016, Declan continued to work part-time during the final year of his degree contributing to the work of the Investment Committee. Declan has a First Class Joint Honours degree in Economics, Finance & Banking from Nottingham Trent University.
Interests: Outside of work, Declan coaches for Nottinghamshire County Rowing Association.
Further to joining us in February 2015, Caroline will be responsible for managing the delivery of our client solutions, ensuring we stay on top of any forthcoming legislative changes as well as overseeing the wider technical support team. As a Chartered Financial Planner, she boasts a variety of specialist exam qualifications and is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.
As part of our technical support team, Rhiannon is responsible for assisting the Financial Planners in developing client solutions. As well as holding her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning she has specialist qualifications in Investment Planning, Personal Tax and Trust Planning. Rhiannon has also played an integral part in developing our investment process.
Interests: Rhiannon has developed a recent love for cross-fit, entering her first competition in 2018.
Joanne joined DB Wood in 2003. As part of our technical support team she is responsible for assisting the Financial Planners in developing client solutions. She has over twenty years’ industry experience and holds the Diploma in Financial Planning. Joanne is currently working towards her Advanced Diploma with an ultimate aim to achieve Chartered Status.
Sonia is a key part of our iInvest team, providing technical solutions for clients in that proposition. She joined DB Wood in 2005, further to the acquisition of Newark Insurance Services, and has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
Interests: Sonia has a love for tap-dancing, and can often be seen performing in the annual show of the Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance at Newark Palace Theatre.
Julie has been a part of DB Wood for over 25 years. She has held various roles over that time, spanning from commissions to technical support. Her broad knowledge base gives her the required understanding to be effective in her current role. Specifically, Julie’s focus is on the wider team’s productivity, and works hard to ensure our clients’ objectives are met with speedy and accurate delivery.
Interests: Outside of work Julie often volunteers in the community, helping at lunch club for the elderly and gives her time to the production of her village magazine.
Claire joined DB Wood in 2007. She has a long history in the client services industry, previously working for a company in manufacturing and medical supplies. She is a very organised individual that takes great pride in offering a personal service to our clients. Specifically, she acts as vital support for Neil and Kelvin, two of our most experienced advisors.
Interests: Family, Holidays, Rugby – in that order.
Georgia joined DB Wood in 2015 after successfully graduating from University of Hertfordshire, with a degree in Film and Television Production. After working within the Client Services team for a year, she discovered her desire for creating the highest quality experience for our clients. This realisation prompted her to move into the role of Marketing to further develop her passion for client satisfaction and pushing DB Wood to be centred around you.
Interests: Georgia is a pizza lover and 80s movie fan, in that order.
Krys started out in the financial services industry as a 23-year-old, working in the pensions department at Norwich Union. After successful stints there and at Standard Life, Krys joined DB Wood in 2009 as a Client Services Administrator. Every client is different, and Krys thoroughly enjoys servicing their every need. Her fulfilment is further enhanced by the camaraderie she shares with her fellow colleagues.
Interests; Krys loves to see new places and has the ambition to see the world when she retires.
Jane originally joined DB Wood in 2000, further to significant experience in the investment departments of both a commercial bank and an asset manager. She has worked with the team for over16 years in total, but latterly re-joined in 2014 when the business returned to Newark. Jane thoroughly enjoys the team based culture at DB Wood, getting personal satisfaction from helping others, and is driven to deliver an excellent client experience.
Interests: Never afraid of an uphill struggle, Jane can often be found pedalling around Lincolnshire on her bicycle.
David joined DB Wood in 2005 at the young age of 20. Amazingly, he has been here 12 years already and is seen by all as a vital member of the team. The platform that holds our clients’ money is David’s area of expertise, but he has also developed fantastic relationships with a great number of Ashley’s clients, whom he services. Our business’ success is built on client relationships, and David helps to drive both.
Interests: David is an Ice-Hockey enthusiast, and has played since the tender age of 11.
Sam has significant experience in the client services sector, having worked for Yorkshire Bank up until 2007 when she joined DB Wood. Sam is a methodical individual who works diligently to ensure our clients receive a consistent service that is both engaging and hassle-free. Specifically, she helps to support Oliver Crampton, and loves working as part of the wider team.
Interests: Downward dog, sun salutations and warrior one are all in her weekly routine, as she holds a keen interest in Yoga.
Georgia joined DB Wood in 2016. She has a particular flair for data analysis, and spends the majority of her time assessing our business’ and clients’ data to help us make more informed business decisions. Georgia is also heavily involved in the servicing of our iInvest clients.
Interests; outside of work Georgia enjoys her running and can put together a mean sub-45 minute 10km.
Richard joined DB Wood in 2002. As Senior Risk and Claims Manager, he is heavily involved in implementing business
insurance strategies for a wide variety of clients. Richard works predominantly as a CII qualified Risk Planner,
with a focus on our Vision Clients. The high variety of clients he looks after, along with the relationships he builds with them are the reason Richard has stayed at DB Wood for over 16 years.
Interests: A fan of the underdog, Richard can often be found at the Riverside Stadium, cheering on his beloved Middlesbrough FC.
Andrew joined DB Wood in May 2015, following a relocation from Peterborough. With experience spanning 20 years, he has held a variety of roles within the insurance industry, bringing a different viewpoint to the team. Andrew holds a Certificate in Insurance and is currently working hard towards his Diploma, keeping his colleagues and clients laughing with his sense of humour.
Interests: This is, in fact, the Risk Account Executive you’re looking for. Andrew is an avid film fan with a proclivity for Star Wars. The force is strong with this one…
Alan joined DB Wood in November 2013 after 25 years with Lloyds Banking Group. His extensive experience has allowed him to develop wide-ranging expertise in his field, and Alan prides himself on delivering excellent customer service to all his clients. Alan has also received his Certificate in Insurance.
Interests: As well as bowling over clients with his superb customer service, Alan enjoys bowling during a good cricket match too.
Daniel joined DB Wood as recently as November 2016 following over 20 years with Lloyds Banking Group PLC. With a background in management stretching back over 16 years, his focus is on ensuring that all business insurance clients receive the highest possible standard of service.
Interests: In addition to a keen interest in golf, Daniel is in the process of earning his Level 1 Certificate in Football Coaching with a view to becoming a youth coach.
Further to a rich history with Lloyds Bank, Helen now plays a crucial role as our internal Finance Manager. Responsible for reconciling accounts on all sides of our business, Helen would describe her approach to credit control as tough, but fair. Further roles include general bookkeeping for DB Wood and the part we all thank her for the most; managing the payroll.
Interests: Helen has a passion for swimming and tap dancing, and can often be found tip-tapping around the office.
