Team Update

Earlier this month we presented the Children’s Bereavement Centre, our nominated charity for 2015, a cheque for £587.  The funds were raised through various activities including; cake bakes, an Easter Egg hunt, guess the baby picture and our team participating in a Christmas bag packing fundraiser at Waitrose Newark. The latter actually raised £1,300 collectively for the charity.

As you may be aware from previous blogs, our nominated charity for 2016 is Beaumond House, however, we are continuing to support the Children’s Bereavement Centre and the Newark and Sherwood Children’s Charities Group by providing them with access to our meeting rooms at our offices at Potterdyke House.  This will allow the Charities to hold meetings which would be impossible to accommodate at their own premises.  Oliver MarathonWe have also been on hand to provide advice on renewing the charity’s insurance policies, which was equally well received.

Oliver Crampton successfully completed the Stockholm Marathon on 4th June.  Despite the blistering heat and a dodgy tracking device, Oliver managed a time of 3 hours 55 minutes; a fantastic achievement considering it was his first Marathon.  In the process, Oliver raised £651.87 for MacMillian Cancer Support.  Competition has now heated up in the office, to the extent that we have entered a Corporate team into the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday 25th September.  We are expecting great times from our team – no pressure!

Later this month, Tracey Underwood will be participating in the Great Notts Bike ride tackling the 125 mile ‘Sheriff’ route, as preparation for her training towards the big 500 miles in September.

Finally, our 400 km static bike ride will now take place on Friday 8th July.  We’ve decided to change the date to allow for our more of our team to participate including our new graduate interns (although they don’t know it yet), who are both keep fit fanatics.  We would really appreciate your support on the day, especially to spur those who have volunteered to take several stints on the bike.  The static bikes will be located outside our office on Martindale Lane and our first volunteer will start at 7am, with the last at 7pm.

If you would like to pledge your financial support for any of our events, we have a dedicated fundraising page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/dbwood40events40years and proceeds will go to Beaumond House Hospice: www.beaumondhouse.co.uk
