DB News

It’s that time of year again…

Around this time of year, as the days start to feel long, a certain atmosphere fills the air at DB Wood. Some call it anticipation, some might even call it fear… I just prefer to think of it as pure excitement!

That’s right, it’s the time of year where we undertake our annual Static Bike Ride. Saddling up in pairs for an hour at a time, we cycle as fast as we can to hit 600km within 12 hours.

This will be our 3rd year undertaking the challenge. In 2016 we managed to hit 600km in 12 hours, and in 2017 we achieved it in 10! Who knows what this year will bring? One things for sure, our competitive nature will push us towards single figures.

We’re also hoping to up the amount of money raised. In 2016, generosity led to a £506.31 benchmark total, and we managed to raise a whopping £513.31 last year. So can we keep annual donation inflation rising?

We will, again, be raising money for our nominated local charity, the Children’s Bereavement Centre. Their service is dedicated to providing help and support to children who have been affected by the death of a loved one. We’re hoping to raise as much as possible for this amazing charity to support everything they do to help the local community.

The event will be taking place on Friday 15th June 2018 down the side of our office on Martindale Lane, just off Lombard Street. We would be delighted if you would pop by and show your support to our determined riders. If you can’t make it but would still like to donate, we are happy to provide a link below:

Otillo Swimrun

And finally, some might call him crazy, others stupid, but we just see raw ambition. Dominic Harrison will be competing in the Otillo Swimrun this weekend. Dubbed by CNN as one of the toughest races in the world, Dom will be alternating between running and swimming as he island hops along a pre-marked course in the Isles of Scilly. I’m sure you’ll join us in wishing Dominic the best of luck for the event, and if you want to follow him on the day you can watch the race live HERE.
